"Ocular 8" explores the tension between identity, perception, and the layers that define us. The woman's face, partially obscured by a butterfly covered in eyes, symbolizes the constant observation and judgment that shapes how we see ourselves and how we are seen by the world. The butterfly, a symbol of transformation, suggests that perception is not fixed but ever-changing—like the wings of the butterfly, our sense of self is both fragile and fluid.

The eyes, scattered across the wings, represent the many perspectives that invade our sense of self, each one adding to the complexity of who we are. They reflect both external judgment and inner self-awareness, suggesting that we are constantly navigating the tension between the way we see ourselves and the way others perceive us.

In this piece, the butterfly acts as a protective yet transformative force, covering the face as both a shield and a symbol of metamorphosis. The work invites viewers to reflect on how perception, both external and internal, can shape our identities, sometimes trapping us in a cycle of looking, being looked at, and changing in response.
